He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Wesley Maxwell and Mary Elizabeth Maxwell (Halley); and his brother David Alan Maxwell. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Ann Maxwell (Laney); his children, Marcy Lynn Maxwell, Molly Rebecca Maxwell and Dr. James Richard Maxwell, Jr. (Janna); his grandchildren, Claire Grace Cabaness, Anna Elizabeth Cabaness, Thomas Joseph Lubecke, Kendall Layne Martin (Maxwell), William Thomas Martin and Gresham James Maxwell; his sister-in-law Bendette Maxwell (Johnston); his nieces, Lisa Henry (Maxwell), Andrea (Maxwell) and Smith (Paul); and his in-laws, David, Linda Laney, Dr. Jim, Linda Lee and Sarah Laney. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church in Camden, AR or Rye Hill Baptist Church in Fort Smith, AR.
