He was predeceased by: his father Ernest Everett Wheeler; his daughter Janet Park; his grandsons, Barry R. Strickland and Aaron L. Wheeler; his sisters, Pauline and Luella; and his friend Michael "Big Mike" Wammack.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Wheeler; his children, Rita Diane Strickland (Jed), Mickie Thomas and Keith Staggs (Kelley); his sister Ernestine Pascarella; his niece Mary Lou Smith; and his sister-in-law Martha Steed. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
