He was predeceased by: his brothers, Jesse Jr., Christopher, Calvin, Danny and Larry Simmons.
He is survived by: his daughter Helen Mashannon Brown; his granddaughter Darriona Redmon; his great grandchild Daliyah Redmon of California; his siblings, David (Deborah), Osborne, Vincent, Darrell Simmons (Diane), Sally Clark, Hope Mosley (Preston), Naomi Jordan, Eula Johnson (Reggie) and Gaye Taylor; his close friend Diane Smothers; and his cousin James Slaughter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
