He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pierce "Jake" Hale and Clydia Moore Hale; his son Joseph Daniel "J. D." Hale; and his son-in-law John David Rye. He is survived by: his children, Kathy (Don Mackie), Mackie Hale (Nancy) and Karol Rye; and his grandchildren, Jake Rye, Audrey Rye Lee, Joseph Luke Hale, Ellie Hale, Lexie Hale and Anna Beth Hale.
