He was predeceased by: his parents, Orvel Buchanan and Viola Sewell Buchanan; and his siblings, John Wesley Buchanan, James Melvin Buchanan, Orville D. Buchanan and Datheal Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Buchanan; his children, Trina Sue (Eric Smart) and Daniel Ray Buchanan; his grandchildren, Autumn Smart, Johnathon Buchanan, Lisa Buchanan, Tucker David Buchanan and Nicole Whitby; and his sister Elizabeth Strothied. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
