He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Nelson and Lillie Mae Bradbury Nelson; his wife Peggy Duvall Nelson; his sons, Dennis F. Nelson and Greg D. Nelson; and his siblings, Gerald Allen Nelson, Floyd Lee Nelson, Clara Jo Nelson Ewing and Loretta Sue Nelson.

He is survived by: his grandson Greg (Kacey Nelson); his great grandchild Dennis Nelson; and his daughter-in-law Lisa Nelson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
