He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Kennedy and Rema Kennedy; and his siblings, Ted Kennedy and Shirley Kennedy Patterson. He is survived by: his sons, John Shane and Robyn Kennedy; his grandchildren, Jordan Kennedy Evans, Joseph Allen Kennedy, Krystin Kennedy Ramirez, Jackson Cole Kennedy, Gracie Lynn Kennedy and Ivy Lorraine Kennedy; and his great grandchildren, Willa Mae Evans, Abigail Jean Evans and Luka Rowan Ramirez.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ashdown Public Library in Ashdown, AR or to Watersprings Ranch in Texarkana, AR.
