He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Willie Smith and Mary Jane Jones Smith; his brothers, George Smith and Charles Smith; his sons, Calvin Joe Smith of Monroe, LA and Marcus Smith (Kina) of Arkadelphia, AR; his grandchildren, Marquesha Smith and Marcus Smith, Jr.; his siblings, Alberta Beard (Claudie) of Arkadelphia, Wardell Smith (Mary) of Nashville, TN and Davis Smith (Debbie) of Nashville, TN.; and his close friend Ed Newburn. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
