He was predeceased by: his parents, Hollis Summar and Effie Barrett Summar; his sister Demetra Gannaway; and his sister-in-law Lucille Summar. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Summar; his daughters, Marsha Griffin (Tiger) of Arkadelphia and Janet Smith (Check) of Walnut Grove, Missouri; his siblings, Wanda Hawkins (Bob) and John Summar; his grandchildren, Heather, Heath (Lacey), Haley, Chad (Becky) and Clay (Sara); and his great grandchildren, Duke, Collin, Hunter, Rebecca, Claire and Rae Lee. He is also survived by one great-grandson on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
