He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Oliver and Alta May Frances Besse (Parton); and his siblings, Harold Jones, Ruth Jones Riddle, Glen Besse, Dorothy McKim and Bob Besse.
He is survived by: his wife Sumiko Besse; his children, Henry Dale Besse (Tondra) of Memphis, TN, Janice Johnson (Ray) of Green Forest, Pattie Tanno (Dominic Philippon) of Harrison and Hallie Neville (Tom) of Wasilla, AK; and his grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Bill Besse, Jason Besse, James Rowland, Jonathan Besse, Shea Neville, Virginia Morris, Emily Tanno-Philippon and Tabitha Besse. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
