It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ann Shafer of Alpena, Arkansas, born in Waterloo, Iowa, who passed away on June 25, 2023, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Barker and Ola Barker (Dixon); her husband Gene Shafer; her brother Leo Jr. Barker; her sister-in-law Laurie Barker; her sister Brenda Bass; her nephew Raymond Howard Jr. of Rogers; and her grandparents, Polly Ann Mitchel Dixon, Samuel Dixon, Harry James Barker and Mary Francis Foster.
She is survived by: her child Jesse Shafer of Alpena; her grandchildren, Vanessa Lee Shafer of Alpena, Logan Lee of Alpena, Isabela Lee of Alpena and Areana Lee of Alpena; and her sisters, Tereasia Marshall (Steve) of Green Forest, Gwenda Fryar (Sheldon) of Green Forest, Pamela Barker of Green Forest and Gail Howard (Raymond) of Rogers. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
