He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxine Cassat and Herman Cassat; his brother Herman Eugene "Gene" Cassat; and his stepson Jeremy Lord. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his sons, Mike (Julie), Jeff (Kenna) and Jim Cassat (Yasmin); and his stepson Nick Lord (Brittany). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Dick's name to Habitat for Humanity.
