He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Cecil and Johnnie Louise Seaborn Rye. He is survived by: his wife Dorthy Motes Rye; his daughters, Ginny Walker (Tim) and Susan Lockhart (Allen); his grandson Timothy Walker (Chasidy); his great grandchild Hollin John Walker; and his siblings, Wanda Gilliland, Patsy Gunter and Danny Rye. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other family members.
