He was predeceased by: his wife Doris Ann Porter; his parents, Gillie Porter and Geneva Bly Porter; and his sisters, Willie Gray Beasley and Norma Faye Wheeler.
He is survived by: his children, Sandra G. Porter of Atlanta, GA, Edward R. Porter (Karen) of Atlanta, GA and Charles B. Porter of Winfield; his grandchildren, Starla Porter, Paige Porter, Tracy Porter, Tiffany Willis, Austin Porter, Tara Porter, Kayla Porter, Heather Smith and Krushinda Brannon; and his nieces, Anita Jones and Amber M. Jones.
