He was predeceased by: his parents, James Travis Benton and Emma Roby Benton; his siblings, Mary Lou Benton, Emma Dean Herren and Marion Bud Benton; his grandson Chris Langston; and his great grandchildren, Owen Douglas Walker and Shields Thomas Walker.
He is survived by: his spouse Lucy Perry Benton; his daughters, Wanda Walker of Winfield, Barbara Tucker (Wayne) of Dora and Martha Weakley (Wayne) of Tuscaloosa; his sisters, Maebelle Cagle of Winfield and Billie Ruth Eads of Kansas; and his grandchildren, Anita Johnson, Michael Langston, Matthew Langston, Annette Lindley, David Burgess, Melissa Morell, Rana Tucker, Jerrod Walker and Joseph Walker. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Winfield First Baptist Church or Hospice of Northwest Alabama.
