He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thurman Dodd and Elfair Farris Dodd; his daughter Misty Dodd; his brother Kinneth Dodd; and his niece Kimberly Dodd.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Dodd; his daughter Raina Elkins (Darrell); his grandchildren, Jake Elkins (Emilie), Jackson Elkins and Molly Kate Elkins; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jo Dodd, Jeannie Anderson (Bill) and Caroline Sparks (Eddie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

“I'm so sorry to hear about Mr Earl. I can remember him coaching us in PeeWee and Toybowl football. Even after we went to high school ball he was always involved in our lives. A phone call he gave me when I was playing Toybowl and couldnt play that game because I was in the hospital still sticks with me to this day. I thought the world of him for that call because he didn't have to. Mrs Brenda, Raina,Darryl and the kids my heart breaks for yall. All of my thoughts and prayers are with yall.”
