He was predeceased by : his son Daniel Scott Lester, Sr.; his parents, Bill Lester and Margie Lester; his in-laws, Luther and Minnie Stabler; and his sister Sandra Lee.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Stabler Lester; his children, Steven Lester (Allyson) and Ashlea Thompson (Matt); his grandchildren, Danny Lester, Matthew Thompson, Miles Lester, Jameson Lester, Madison Lester, Miranda Lester, Alayna Thompson and Annalea Thompson; and his sisters, Judy Peacock and Lucille Sellars (Lonnie). He is also survived by many family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at the Valhalla Memorial Gardens (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613).
