He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel William Carpenter, Sr. and Effie Carpenter of Washington; his son Glenn Carpenter; and his sisters, Louise, Mildred, Ione, Mozelle, Ermis, Sara and Ruth.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Bramlett Carpenter of Wedowee; his children, Amy Carpenter Lyles of Wedowee, Mona Carpenter VanDyke of Nashville, TN, Sheila Carpenter Haney of Hokes Bluff, AL, Tracy Faulkner Carpenter of Wedowee and Jason Matthew Carpenter (Leslie) of Sparta, TN; his grandchildren, Casey Carpenter (Bekah), Corey Carpenter, Austin Carpenter (Taylor), Ashley Lyles Entrekin (Evan), Hunter Michael Lyles (Allison), Colton Samuel Lyles, Ava Catherine VanDyke, Abby Haney, Jack Carpenter, Saydee Carpenter, Sam Carpenter, Jase Carpenter and Lincoln Carpenter; and his sisters, Sue Andrews of Brewton and Joyce Davis of Wedowee. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
