He was predeceased by: his parent Orville Oates; his child Mary Oates Johnson; and his brother Gary Oates. He is survived by: his parent Hazel Elofson Oates; his wife Betty Johns Harbin-Oates of Webb, AL; his children, Lori Krohn (Mike), Albion, Anita Stuhr-Evans (Rick), Elkhorn and Eric Oates; his stepson Henry Harbin, III (Ann); his siblings, Mary Ann Riley of Lincoln, Ora Adler, Hastings and Tom Oates (Dot); and also, Hazel and Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for medical expenses.
