It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joe Downer of Webb, Alabama, born in Geneva, Alabama, who passed away on October 2, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Downer and Nolie V. Waters Downer; his brother Jimmy Downer; and his great grandchild Jaylee Jesse James. He is survived by: his wife Sallie Mae Downer; his daughters, Shawna Neal, Salina Hicks (Morgan), Sharon Downer Hutto and Stephanie Downer Moat (Paul); his siblings, Marty Downer and Helon Scott; his sister-in-law Carolyn Downer; and his grandchildren, Robert Neal, Joseph Neal, Bridgett Neal, Dustin Hicks (Jessica), Dr. Tiffany Hicks Sexton, Olivia Dufresne (Scott), Tyler Grantham, Katelyn Downer and Amanda Gallaher. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
