He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard E. Chappell and Willie Mae Burns Chappell; his son Jerry Lee Chappell; his daughter-in-law Rita Stover Chappell; and his brother Donald Chappell.
He is survived by: his wife Enola Shipp Chappell; his daughter Deborah Smith (Terry); his grandsons, Jeremy Chappell (Amanda), Shane Chappell (Alicia), Matthew Smith (Mia) and Nicholas Smith (Lindsay); his great grandchildren, Jack Smith, Henry Smith, Anna Easton Chappell, Elin Chappell, Ethan Muncher, Jordan Fuller and Turner Shankles; his siblings, Elaine Chappell, Martha Peeler, Linda Wigington (Charles) and James Chappell (Kay); and his siblings-in-law, Doris Shipp, Lee Reid, Mary Ann Nethery, DeLoris Donegan and John Bell (Barbara). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Corner High School Alumni Association, PO Box 235 Sumiton, AL, 35148 in care of The Jerry Chappell Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund.
