He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Venson Hudson and Virginia Dovie Smith; his granddaughter Haley Hudson; and his brother Wayne Smith. He is survived by: his children, Shannon Hodges (Cody) of Roanoke, Rebacca Hudson (Katy Nutt) of Roanoke, Walter Wayne Hudson Jr. (Lori Barker) of Muscadine, Tristen Hudson (Lisa Brown) of Wadley and Jayden Wayne Hudson of Roanoke; his siblings, Sue Davidson of Millerville, Betty Newman (Glenn) of Alexander City and David Hudson (Carla) of Daviston; and his close friend Amy Hudson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
