He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Staples and Hattie Meadows Staples; his wife Katherine Zachary Staples; and his siblings, Bill Perry, Roy Staples, Jr., Billy Staples and Christine Pressley.
He is survived by: his children, Betty Daniel of Rockford, AL, Cindy Dennis (Larry) of Fairburn, GA, Ytonia Johnson of Detroit, MI, Kathy McFarland of Roanoke, AL, Annette Stallworth of Columbiana, AL, Tom Staples, Jr. of Lineville, AL and Stanley Smith of Roanoke, AL; his siblings, Betty Nathan of Tampa, FL and Nolen Staples of Toledo, OH; his nephews, Mike Perry and Steve Perry; and his friends, Braxton Garrett, Powell, Herschel Battle, Jerome Wall and Maurice Moore. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
