He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Smith and Ophelia Smith of Nebraska; and his brother Charles Barbee. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Barbee; his son Keith Barbee; his stepson Tony Jackson (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Josh Barbee (Heather), Frankie Barbee, Amy Dunn (Tray) and Amber Jackson; his great grandchildren, Bolyn Dunn, Genesis Barbee and Brianna Barbee; and his siblings, Mary Lou Plemons, Linda Sue Hyatt, Faye Hyatt, Dewy Ray Barbee (Jenny), Terry Barbee (Karen) and Jerry Barbee (Nell). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
