He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Buckelew and Evelyn Posey; his stepfather James Posey; and his brothers, Jerry Buckelew and Gene Buckelew.

He is survived by: his daughters, Georgia Hunt and Tammy Buckelew (Jeff Whitmire); his grandchildren, James Buckelew (Tiffany Hicks), Zena Strickland (Caleb Cupp) and Justin Hunt; and his great grandchildren, Madison, Chloe, Kenzie, Emorie, Linley, Jasper, Ryder and Tallon.
