He was predeceased by: his parents, James Quinton Richey and Shelbia Jean Richey (Cummings); his wife Cindy Richey (Skinner); and his brothers, Melvin "Andy" Richey and Tommy "T. O." Richey.

He is survived by: his son Brian Richey (Kelli); his stepdaughter Brittney Miller (Albert); his brother Joel Richey; his stepmother Florence Richey; and his sister-in-law Rita Richey. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
