He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Evans Sr. and Irene B. Evans; the mother of his children Marilynn; his stepson Rick Byrd; and his granddaughter Emily Lois Dorough.
He is survived by: his wife Nadine Horne Evans; his children, Lois Dorough (Joe) of Tuscaloosa, Nancy Hendrix of Chelsea and Dwight Evans Sr. (Ann) of Buford, GA; his niece Roberta Ann Frazier of Cypress, TX.; his stepchildren, Kathy Hutchens (Glynn) of Chelsea and Tracy Horne (Lora) of Hoover, AL.; his grandchildren, Craig (Shanette), Brad (Samantha), Hunter Dorough (Kiesha), Heather D. Windham (David), Daniel Hendrix (Amanda), Kristin Echols (Lavangel), Dwight Jr., Marissa Evans, Rebecca Blankenship (Micah), Rachel Ammons, Otto and Matthew Schloz; and his great grandchildren, Alex Dorough and Virgil Blankenship.
