He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Tucker Johnson; his parents, John Richard Johnson and Beatrice Brooks Johnson; and his sisters, Lois, Helen, Johnnie, Kathryn and Florence.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Johnson Slappey (Bill), Patricia "Trish" Johnson Fox (Nick), James William Johnson, Jr. (Tammie) and Jason Tucker Johnson (Tricia). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
