He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Foster and Laura Dowdle Rector; and his children, James Michael Rector and Shawn Rector. He is survived by: his siblings, Richard, Sam, Oliver Rector, Ilene Ellis, Pauline Thompson, Hazel Bell and Betty Holley of Columbus, MS; his brother-in-law Jim Gomes of Palm Bay, FL; and his children, Sherry Price (Stoney) of Vernon, AL, Robin Rector of Anchorage, AK, Melanie Collins (Terry) of Round Rock, TX, Lisa King (late Jeffrey) of New London, CT and Mary Felkins (Jared) of Watertown, TN.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
