It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred Pollard Layne of Valley Head, Alabama, born in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, who passed away on May 5, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ivor Lee and Lena Mae Norris Johnson; her husband Paul Edward Layne; her sons, Johnny Leon and Sterling; her siblings, James, Kenneth Johnson, Ethel King, Mae Johnson and Betty Bowman; and her daughters, Doris A. Layne, Dora Hicks (Ronald), Charlene Schafer (Jodi) and Darlene Pollard (John Sharp). She was also cherished by 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
