She is survived by: her husband James P. Carmichael-Valley; her children, Mike Smith (Lu), Judy Lewis (Richard) and Rita Chapman (Whitney); her stepdaughters, Linda Thomas (Bob) and Emmy Carmichael; her sister Marguerite Whitmire; her grandchildren, Chris Lewis (Misty), Tim Lewis, Amy Cardin (Chad), Lisa Crowder and John Chambers; and her child Walter "Scutter" Smith.
