He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Gilliam Shelley and Lucy May Cross Shelley; his former wife Lucy Tindal Shelley; his siblings, Aubrey Shelley (Nancy), James Shelley (Hazel), Owen Shelley (Dot), Madaline Leach (Randall) and Oleta Boughton (Bill); his siblings-in-law, Cathy Dunagan and Junior Rush; his son-in-law Kenny Elder; and his grandson Martin Shelley, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Ann Shelley; his children, Steven Shelley, Denise Elder, Martin Shelley (Theresa "Cookie"), Beverly Bandy (Ronnie), Tommy Rose, Jr. (Amy) and Alex Rose (Katie); his grandchildren, Melissa Davis (Peyton), Miciah Shelley, Sam Elder (Erica), Brandie Buck (Nathan), Eric Bandy (Jeanie), Joshua Bandy, Nichole Bassuk (Logan), Kylie Sowers (Ricky), Lexie Rinnert (Travis), Hollis Rose and Alexis Rose; his great grandchildren, Emma Buck, Emmett Buck, Ella Buck, Jackson Hix, Aubrey Bandy, Gritt Hix, Angus Bandy, Addy Bassuk, Aiden Bassuk, Mason Sowers and Cooper Sowers; his mother-in-law Hazel Murphy (Jimmy); and his sisters-in-law, Patricia "Ann" Bennett (Johnny) and Kerri Gilliam (Christopher). He is also survived by family members and friends.
A memorial service was held on Friday, October 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Ocmulgee Baptist Church (122 Ocmulgee Church Rd, Selma, AL 36701).
