He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leo Merchant and Annie Inez Lawrence Merchant. He is survived by: his wife Frances Manderson Merchant; his children, Myra Merchant Ellis (David) and James Stephen Merchant (Patricia); his grandchildren, Dalyn Ellis Farmer, David Scott Ellis and James N. Merchant; his great grandchildren, Ella Merchant, Hugh Merchant, Briggs Merchant and Erskin Merchant; and his sister Florence A. Richey.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pineview Memory Gardens (5255 AL-22, Valley Grande, AL 36701).
