He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Joyce Strange Wimberly; his granddaughter Mandy Dawn Slaton; his parents, Howard Wimberly and Methel Wimberly; and his sisters, Shelby Lenz and Maggie Sue Richards.
He is survived by: his children, Dawn Slaton (Steve), Laura Travis (Ron) and Wade Wimberly (Melva); his grandchildren, Chris Slaton, Jessica Shannon (Anthony), Rachel Travis (Krys), Amy Newsom (Jason), Matt Wimberly (Laura) and Kayla Stokes (Brittany); and his sister Sarah Pearson. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Colbert Memorial Chapel (700 US-43, Tuscumbia, AL 35674). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
