With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Derrick Martin Young of Tuscumbia, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 23, 2024 at the age of 69. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Young and Jinnie Young. He is survived by: his children, Orlandus Young (Katie) and Lakayla Key (Pervis); his grandchildren, Pervis Jr., Peyton, Kameron and Kaitlan Young; his siblings, Rosetta Young, Irene Goodloe (Albert), Jeannette Johnson, Willie Young and Joseph Young (Alicia); and his aunt Lula Young. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Thursday, November 28th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Thompson and Son Funeral Home (400 S Washington St, Tuscumbia, AL 35674). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church (2602 E 14th Ave, Sheffield, AL 35660). A burial was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 at the Shoals Memorial Garden (1106 Wm F Gardiner Ave, Tuscumbia, AL 35674).
