He was predeceased by: his wife Gaynell Johnson Brogden; his parents, Sellers Brogden and Shirley Brogden; and his brothers, Harold and Farrell Brogden.
He is survived by: his children, Debbie Brooks, Rhonda Allen Robert E. (Jody), Brogden, II (Bethany) and Stephanie Faulkner; his sisters, Linda Palmer (Carl), Lenorah Gibbons and Jean Buchanan; and his grandchildren, Rachel Hill (Todd), Ryan Brooks (Jeni), Tillman Allen (Sarah), Hailey Grace Allen, Mary Crockett (Matthew), Leslie Whitman (Jacob), Rebecca Brogden, Amanda Kornegay (Jason), Clayton Faulkner and Peyton Bachelor. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
