He is survived by: his wife Charlotte; his children, Niki Pierce (Gantt), Brittany Spitler (Blake), Rud Blumentritt (Mary) and James Blumentritt (Mikie); his grandchildren, Elle Pierce, Max Blumentritt Pierce, Will Pierce, Layton Spitler, Madison Spitler, Emma Harper Blumentritt and Sarah James Blumentritt; and his sister Barbara Blumentritt (Sally Dawson).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TARP, Troy Animal Rescue Project.
