It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alva Mae Graves of Troy, Alabama, who passed away on December 20, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Alva Mae may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Alva Mae touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her son-in-law Homer Pettengill. She is survived by: her husband Joe Graves of Troy, AL; her children, JoAnn Pettengill of Level Plains, AL, Kathy Hendrix (Buddy) and Jim Graves (Jeanine); her granddaughters, Emily Stallsmith Alison Pettengill (David) and Katie Bradley Megan (Aaron); and her sister Annette Averett of Tuscaloosa, AL. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory (1301 Neal Metcalf Rd, Enterprise, AL 36330). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM at the Meadowlawn Cemetery (6121 AL-27, Enterprise, AL 36330).
