He was predeceased by : his parents, James Fletcher and Annie Floy Maclin Best; his wife Bobbie Benton Best; his brother Benjamin A. Best; and his stepbrother Edward Best.

He is survived by : his children, Teri Dukes (Frank) of Opelika, AL, Dr. Daveta Dozier (Frank) of Thomasville, AL and Tim Best of Riverside, TX; his sister Annie Best Combs of Beaumont, TX; his grandchildren, Christy Mooney (Chris) of Opelika, AL, Richard Dukes of Auburn, AL, Corrie Green (Blake) of Smiths Station, AL, Laura Boltz (Lewis) of Starkville, MS, David Dozier of Huntsville, AL and Julie Parham (David) of Chicago, IL; and his great grandchildren, Gabe Mooney, Zane Mooney, Jack Mooney, Rachael Mooney, Jacob Kent, Caleb Kent, Rhea Green, Tripp Green and Zerah Boltz.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 17th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home (34550 US-43, Thomasville, AL 36784). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Thomasville Baptist Church (210 Wilson Ave, Thomasville, AL 36784).
