He is survived by: his wife Catherine B. Stokes of Thomaston, AL; his sons, James Wayne Stokes and John Douglas Stokes of Thomaston, AL; his siblings, Elvin Myles Stokes, Billy Gaines Stokes of Thomaston, AL and Phyllis Hicks Jackson of Pine Hill, AL; and his grandchildren, Kylie Elizabeth Stokes, Tebow Cullen Stokes, Molly Kate Stokes and Anna Kate Golden.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
