He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Brooks and Lera Brooks; and his siblings, Lucille Parker, Rudene Luker, Mavis Morris, Avis Brown, Avery Brooks, Arnold Brooks and Baron Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Brooks; his children, Susan Hammond (Tim) and Wilson Brooks; his grandchildren, Lydia Jane Love (Zack) and Nathan Gerald Hammond; and his sisters, Merle Young, Betty Ashley and Wilma Newsome. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Irvington Building Fund, 9074 Irvington Bayou La Batre Hwy, Irvington, AL 36544.
