He was predeceased by: his parents, Aubrey Chester Walton and Dottie L. Walton; and his siblings, Mary Elizabeth Walton, Nelson, Bobby and Billy Walton.

He is survived by: his wife Bernadette Bolding Walton of Northport; his daughter Hope Walton Robbins (Ray); his siblings, Trixie Kay Smith, Martha L. Smith (Carlton), William Clayton Walton and Jackie Donald Walton (Bonnie); and his granddaughters, Kate Marie Robbins and Anna Ray Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Johnny Walton's honor to Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
