He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Smith Nelson; his parents, Dan Charles Nelson and Margaret Ethel Nelson; and his brother Jerry Nelson. He is survived by: his sons, Dan Charles Nelson II (Tammy) of Talladega and Mark Smith Nelson (Selena) of Talladega; his grandchildren, Dalton, Isabella Nelson and Michael Jones; and his great grandchildren, Braden and Addison Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Dr. Nelson to Liberty Church Cemetery Fund, 1630 Liberty Road, Goodwater, AL 35072.
