He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Newsome and Jessie Mae Newsome; his grandson Wesley Alan Newsome; his siblings, Ronnie Duke Newsome, Edward Thomas "Buddy" Newsome (Ruth), Harry James Newsome (Brenda) and Wanda Wren Newsome Burt (Terry); and his brother-in-law Floyd Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Newsome; his children, Darryl Newsome (Sandra), Jeff Newsome (Susan) and Melanie Pack (Scott); and his siblings, Michael Newsome (Lisa), Kenneth Newsome (Carol) and Myra Williams. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
