He was predeceased by: his son Tyler Bates; his parents, Jimmy Bates and Zora Bates; and his brother Randy Bates. He is survived by: his daughter Jerica Plemons (Tony) of Ider; his grandchildren, Kayleigh, Harlinn and Jayden; and his cousin Denice Bates.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Rainsville Funeral Home (498 McCurdy Ave N, Rainsville, AL 35986). A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
