He was predeceased by: his wife Wilma Sims; his brothers, Benny S. Sims, Larry Gene Sims, Sr. and Thomas "Butch" Sims; and his parents, Gerald Sims and Dorothy Sims.
He is survived by: his children, Jerri Lyn Douglas (Jack), Beth Sims and Wayne Sims, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jacqueline Garrett (Brent), Jackson Douglas (Sasha), John Douglas (Felichia) and Jessica Douglas; and his great grandchildren, Joseph, Noah, Daniel, Chloe, Jaxon, Bryce, Boston and Pierce. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
