She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruby Barton and Grady Barton; and her sisters, Nellie Janette Barton Ledkins and Martha Annette Barton. She is survived by: her husband Erskine Ramsey Penton; her children, Neva Patrice Penton Eklund (Jason) and Erskine Gray Penton (Mary); and her grandchildren, Jason Graham Eklund, Malcolm Gray "Major" Penton, Ramsey Mullins Penton, Joseph Fonville "Joe" Penton and Marjorie Mary Virginia Penton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
