She was predeceased by: her husband James Gardner; her parents, John Haynes and Leona Haynes; and her siblings, Excelle Talton, Mae Richardson, Sarah Hughes, Martha McDaniel and William Haynes.
She is survived by: her sons, Mike Gardner (Pam) and Keith Gardner (Tammy); her siblings, Johnny Haynes, Francis Haynes, Clinton Haynes, Clanton Haynes, Alberta Houston and Sheila Stevens; and her grandchildren, Jim Gardner (Tatiane), Grant Gardner, Drew Gardner (Crystal) and Carlee Sims (David Brent). She is also survived by three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
