He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Virgil and Ethelene Hickman Vawter; and his son James David Vawter. He is survived by: his wife Janet Jones Vawter; his children, Charles Richard Vawter, Jr. of Sylacauga, John Edward Vawter (Susan) of Birmingham and Elizabeth Vawter Andrews (Josh) of Birmingham; his grandchildren, Kylie Baumgardner (David), John Edward Vawter, Jr., Alex Istok (Cheston), Hannah Alexander (Josh), Anna Claire Vawter, Patrick Jones Vawter, Emilia Grace Vawter, Amy Charles Vawter, Olivia Eugenie Westfall, Isabella Katherine Andrews, Ava Caroline Andrews, Emma Victoria Andrews, Benjamin Aaron Andrews and Levi Stewart Andrews; his great grandchildren, Julia Grace Alexander and Joshua Prather Alexander; and his sisters, Sara Lou Vawter Phillips of Panama City, FL, Nell Vawter Goff of Birmingham and Jenny Vawter Blocker of Blountsville.
