He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jo Cooper; his son Robert Cooper (Bobby); his siblings, Barbara Shook, Judy Cooper, Laura Jean Martin, Jewel Faye Cooper, Jackie Cooper and Johnny Paul Cooper; and his parents, Lawrence Cooper and Hazel Cooper.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Cooper of Sylacauga, Billy Joe Cooper of Sylacauga and Lynn Phurrough of Alex City; and his siblings, Earnest Cooper of Sylacauga, James Cooper of Sylacauga, Glenda Hope of Sylacauga, Vickie Adair of Wallsboro, AL and Jenny Davis of Jasper. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
